Why did Jesus incarnate?
- When Adam disobeyed God, sin and death extend to all men, (Romans 5:12), but “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom5:8).
- No one can save us except Jesus Christ, as the Bible said, “There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11-12).
- There are five qualifications for a savior:
1- He must be a human being, to save the human beings.
2- He must die, because the wage of sin is death.
3- He must be sinless, because if he was sinful he also will be in need of salvation.
4- He must be unlimited, because our sin is unlimited as it was against the unlimited God.
5- He must be a creator, in order to create a new sinless human nature.
To fulfill these requirements, God had to be incarnated in the form of a man (Jesus Christ), and dwell among us and die. Thus, He was the unification of humanity and divinity. Through humanity, He was a man and died. Through divinity, He is unlimited, He is the Creator, and He is sinless.
- The saving from our sins is a big action consisting of three items:
1- Facing the sin:
As Jesus did with Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10. That’s because, “the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).
This means that God came to us (as He came to Zacchaeus) and gave us strength to overcome the sin. The only thing is that we have to do as Zacchaeus did, i.e., run to Jesus and try our best to see Him, and know Him.
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). I mean free from all kinds of sins.
2- The forgiveness of the sin:
- Through the blood of Jesus. The Bible said that, “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1John 1:7).
Jesus teaches us saying, “For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).
- We have to forgive others first, then we can gain our forgiveness, as Jesus Christ teaches us saying, “forgive and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37).
3- The saving from the consequences of the sin:
- Jesus saved us from sin and there is no more death but death became just a channel from this life to the eternal life.
Glory be to God forever Amen.
